About Szegedi Közlekedési Kft.

The company has a history of more than 130 years. Currently, the main field of activity in Szeged is the operation of electric fixed-track transport. Responsibilities also include the public paid parking system, vehicle rescue and delivery, and the operation of the parking garage.

Challenges

The ordered website was intended to present the transportation company of Szegedi Közlekedési Kft., they are responsible for operating the public transportation of Szeged. We needed to create a comprehensive website, that introduces them, their vehicle park, also offering a real-time timetable for the local transport operated by them.

Solution

The main goal for the site was to provide information for passengers about actual timetables, possibilities of purchasing tickets, vehicle information and actualities regarding the transportation. One of the main objective was to create a complex system while maintaining easy access and usage. For the live data processing we had to work with GTFS files. A unique importer system was created for the GTFS data, with it we could easily display the vehicles path, departure and arrival times.

Result

We succeeded with an easy to use, versatile website, which will help those want to use the companies public transportation services. We managed to create a reliable timetable, made a custom developed OpenStreetMap for the ticket sales points, and for special occasions, a live tracking system .
